During the AMC Networks Summit in New York, Gimple quipped that the “epic love story” that brings Rick and Michonne together takes place in an unprecedented setting in the walking Dead Universe. “Discovering new individual worlds is critical,” Gimple said, adding that Rick “discovered a new world” when he woke up from a coma in the pilot episode of the walking Dead. (“There will be no coma,” Gimple joked from Rick / Michonne series.)
